SPIRITUAL MOMENTUM – Do you have it?

Do you feel stagnate in your relationship with God?  Does your involvement with church feel institutional or feel like an exciting movement?  We all wrestle at different times in our spiritual walk with feeling stagnate.  Following Jesus is never to be stagnate or boring.  It is to be vibrant, alive and abundant.  Church is never to be stagnate or boring, but that is exactly what happens when the leadership and people lose spiritual momentum.  And when a church loses spiritual momentum often instead of recovering its original mission it becomes institutional.  And when this happens it stops becoming a life-changing movement.
“The church Jesus founded was a missionary church.  Its existence and activities were an expression of its missionary calling.  Its members were fearlessly determined to win others to faith in Jesus as the crucified and risen Messiah.”  -Steve Addison
So, this raises the all important question: How can we recover spiritual momentum and a church community that is a life-changing movement?
All we have to do is look at the early church and see what it did to maintain personal spiritual momentum and a dynamic church life that changed communities, cities, nations and the world.  There are 3 primary simple relational things that the early followers did that kept the church alive:
They talked about Jesus
They testified about Jesus
They loved like Jesus
If we stop talking about Jesus, we will stop having things to testify about His mighty work in our lives.  If we are not talking about Jesus and testifying about the real things He is doing in our life then we will not be able to truly love people like Jesus did.
I found that to keep spiritual momentum alive by the power of the Spirit in my life that I need to constantly ask God to give me opportunities to talk about Jesus my Savior – He always answers this pray and usually quickly.  I have found that the more I talk about Jesus the more I have to testify about Him working in my life.  This is where the Holy Spirit really brings momentum into our lives. For the more we testify the more hungry and expectant we get for a demonstration of his power.  And finally, the more I talk to people about Jesus the more opportunity I have for Jesus to love them through me.  Most people are intrigued when we talk to them about our relationship with Jesus.  Most people are longing to hear about what a real relationship with God looks like.
Lets recover the life-changing momentum of Jesus’ mission so His church will become the movement in the world it is supposed to be and not a dead boring religious institution.
Talk About Jesus
Testify About Jesus
Love Like Jesus
